Introduction to Musafir

Musafir (مسافر) is an Arabic word which means “traveller” and refers to someone who is on a long journey.

In Surah Al-An’am verse 11, Allah mentions:When Travelling: Say,

The Qur’an has mentioned travel numerous times in different variations such as ‘Do travel’, ‘’Tell them to travel’, or ‘Do they not travel?’. In Arabic, the word ‘saiyr’ means travel or move (e.g. a planet is ‘sayyarah’) – with all its variations. It appears in the Quran total 27 times.

 

 

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Travel throughout the land and see how He originated the creation, then Allah will bring it into being one more time.Surely Allah is Most Capable of everything (29:20) 

 

Have they not travelled throughout the land so their hearts may reason, and their ears may listen? Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind (22:46)
